Laura Rice - Director of Education
Laura joined the Gatehouse staff in August 2005 after relocating from Michigan. She has a masters degree in education/curriculum and a bachelors degree in biology/secondary education, both from Michigan State University. She comes to Gatehouse with seven+ years of high school teaching experience. This includes teaching both biology and chemistry, as well as advising national honor society, student council, and science olympiad. As a member of the MEA (Michigan Education Association), Laura served on several professional committees. She co-chaired the writing committee for NCA (North Central Accreditation) and served on the bargaining committee for the local MEA chapter. Through her teaching experience, Laura had direct contact with at risk students and their families. Her desire to help students in distress brought her to Gatehouse, where she can pursue this calling professionally.
