Main Campus - Wickenburg

Gatehouse Academy’s main campus is a vibrant and dynamic learning environment with a community of young people who are serious about turning their lives around.  Our program’s philosophy is based on the core belief that everything is secondary to recovery. Without active recovery, no amount of education or property will have any value or true worth in the life of a chemically dependant person.

Gatehouse Academy is experiential… Our residents learn life lessons…the basic and fundamental awareness of oneself in relation to the rest of the world. We teach the principles of effective living. As our residents live, learn and integrate these principles they develop a character ethic which is the foundation of true success and contended sobriety. Through daily interaction with their peers, Gatehouse residents begin to ‘see’ the role they have played in their lives, that old patterns of behavior and attitudes no longer serve them. With acceptance of responsibility, they grow and change. ‘Learning’ and ‘living’ recovery is primary.

Residents contribute to the greater good of their community through work ethic, maintenance, menu planning, shopping and preparation, as well taking responsible roles in the planning and execution of larger community events such as commencement celebrations, plays, and art shows. In addition, our residents are encouraged to create teams that contribute to the greater Wickenburg community through fundraising events and regular community service. Our residents gain self-respect by doing estimable things. There is a ‘can-do’ attitude on our campuses. Co-operation with one another, open and honest communication, a willingness to listen to new ideas and to try new things are daily activities and opportunities. Peer role modeling is evident and fundamental!

While on the Wickenburg campus, residents continue with their formal education, picking up where their chemical dependency interrupted their learning.
